Summer Reading Kick-off
Join us at the Marion Library on June 10th, 12pm-3pm, for the kick-off of our Summer Reading Program, “Adventure Begins at Your Library”. Can’t make it to the kick-off, no worries, you can sign-up anytime throughout the summer.
All reading logs, tickets, Bingo sheets, and Adventure Passport sheets are due by 5:30p.m. on August 2nd. Winners will be called by August 12th.
What is Summer Reading Program?
The Summer Reading Program is not just for kids but for all readers. It is about library advocacy for readers as we connect with our communities through programs and activities. It is designed to be fun and to encourage reading, maintain skills, and spark new interests.
What is counted:
- reading a physical book
- audiobooks
- reading magazines or newspapers
- e-books / e-audiobooks
- reading subtitles on the television
To get started, kids, teens, and adults will use a Reading Log to record the amount of time spent reading during the summer. This reading log will also be key to earning prizes. Patrons will need to read 8 hours to complete the summer reading program. Want more chances to win? Pick up a new reading log and keep coming to programs at the library! As a bonus, attending library programs and completing Bingo sheets and/or Adventure Passport sheet also count toward your reading goal.
