Preschool and elementary school age children must be accompanied by an adult while in the library.

Recurring Children’s Programs

Preschool Story Time
Ages Birth-5
Mondays at 10:30am – Marion Branch Library
Tuesdays at 10:30am – Old Fort Branch Library
Books, songs, felt board stories, action rhymes and fun for pre-school aged children.

Crafts for Little Hands
Ages Birth-5
Second Monday at 11:00am – Marion Branch Library
Second Tuesday at 11:00am – Old Fort Branch Library
Once a month after Story Time, preschool-aged children are invited to craft at the library. Dress for a mess because we will be using glue, scissors, paints, paper, markers, crayons and much more! Targeted age group 3- to 5-year olds, but all are welcome.

Afterschool Adventures
School Age
Tuesdays at 3:30 p.m. – Old Fort Branch Library 
Thursdays at 4:00 p.m. – Marion Branch Library
This is an activity for children ages 5 and up. LEGO Challenges, board games, crafts, and outdoor fun!

PAWS for Reading
School Age – Registration Required
Every Thursday at 4:30pm – Marion Branch Library
Kids ages 5-10 are invited to sign up for a 15-minute reading session with one of our therapy dogs. A fun way to build literacy skills and confidence! Free and open to the public. Registration required. Spaces are limited.

Sensory Story Time
All Ages – Registration Required
First Saturday at 12:00 – Marion Branch Library
Sensory Story Time is an all-ages program created for the families of children with special needs. Our goal each story time is to engage the senses through interactive books, songs encouraging movement, and other exciting sensory activities. Registration required.

Special Programs

The Lab: Paper Airplanes
School Age
Wednesday, May 1 at 4:00 –  Marion Branch Library
Wednesday, May 8 at 3:30 – Old Fort Branch Library
Join us in The Lab as we build and conduct interesting experiments. This month: Try your hand at folding paper airplanes and stick around for a flying contest! For school-age children, ages 5+.

The Studio: 3D Birds
School Age
Wednesday, May 15 at 4:00 – Marion Branch Library
Wednesday, May 22 at 3:30 – Old Fort Branch Library
Try your hand at different art techniques in The Studio.  This month: Come fold & paint paper plates to make beautiful 3D birds!  For school-age children, ages 5+.

Nature Printing
All Ages
Saturday, May 18 from 12:00-2:00 – Marion Branch Library
Create a sun-printed masterpiece using nature from around the library!
