Adult Summer Reading Program

This year adults and seniors are joining the Summer Reading Program! They are challenged to keep track of how many hours they’re reading, attend hands-on workshops, and have a chance to win an Amazon Kindle Fire. Register at either of our libraries in Marion or in Old Fort.

Summer Reading Program Start Date: Monday, June 12

Summer Reading Program End Date: Friday, August 11

For the first week of the Summer Reading Program we have computer classes, grant writing workshops, crafting and a health workshop on Alzheimer’s.

IT Help Desk
Tuesday, June 13 from 1:30pm – 3:30pm
Old Fort Branch Library
Steve Taylor will be at the library to help people with their IT issues. He can help with social media, printing, internet
navigation, files and folders, photo editing and uploading, basic keyboard and mouse skills, e-books and other online
library resources (plus more). No appointments are necessary.

Introduction to Fundraising Planning
Tuesday, June 13 at 4:00pm

Fundraising is the vehicle that lets nonprofits do their work. This workshop helps young organizations build a case for
support and provides an overview of common fundraising types; grants, corporate funding, individual donors, etc. While
open to all, this workshop is ideal for those who have already established their nonprofit organization.

Bring your needles and yarn to the library this summer because every second Wednesday of the month we will be
knitting. Experienced knitters are welcome to bring the project they are working on. If you would like to get into
knitting, we will have patterns, needles, yarn and hands-on instruction available.
Printing Basics
Wednesday, June 14 at 3:00pm
Marion Branch Library
Learn basic tips to printing in the Windows operating system.

Know the 10 Signs: Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia
Friday, June 16 from 2:00pm – 4:00pm

Memory loss that disrupts daily life may be a symptom of Alzheimer’s or another dementia. Alzheimer’s is a brain
disease that causes a slow decline in memory, thinking and reasoning skills. There are 10 warning signs and symptoms.
Attend this workshop to learn about the 10 warning signs and symptoms.
